Transformation of a former Power Plant into an Exhibition Site | Realized project design and photographic works – concept, planning, exemplary detailing for one out of twelve former combustion chambers, which have been re-designed for the exhibition. Design of the cultural historic exhibition "Mittendrin - Sachsen-Anhalt in der Geschichte", in 1997, within the former power plant Kraftwerk Vockerode (Elbe) shut down in 1994. The monument of the industrial age had been realized during the Nazi period around 1940. During decades, the four chimneys of the building have marked the modern 'gate' of the industrial era for the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm, one of the largest English landscape parks in continental Europe. The concept of the exhibition traced the path of the coal, the transformation of 'coal to energy', as experienceable visitor's path; twelve combustion chambers served – opened and equipped with suspended steel platforms – as the thematic heart and organizing structure for the histories of ca. 1000 years to re-anchor the just founded federal state within the German republic after the fall of the wall.

"Mittendrin - Sachsen-Anhalt in der Geschichte": Ausstellungsgestaltung und Umnutzung des ehemaligen Kohlekraftwerks Elbe in Vockerode zur temporären, kulturhistorischen Landesausstellung. Das während des Nationalsozialismus bis Anfang 1940 gebaute Monument der Industriekultur hat über Jahrzehnte das moderne Tor zum Dessau-Wörlitzer Gartenreich markiert. Transformiert für eine einjährige Nutzung galt es, mit der Ausstellungsgestaltung die Kulturgeschichte des jungen Bundeslandes seit dem Mittelalter räumlich zu gliedern. Der Besucherweg zeichnet als Rückgrat der Ausstellung den Weg der Kohle nach; in zwölf für diesen Anlass aufgeschnittenen und mit einer eingehängten Stahlebene ausgestatteten Brennkammern werden die Inhalte in thematisch gestalteten Kabinetten vermittelt.
